About Me

The flying piglet

My name is Alice and I live in San Francisco. I'm an engineer by trade, but my passion has always been food. My family imbued in me a great appreciation for all things edible -- it's more than sustenance, but rather a way of life. All celebrations commenced around the dinner table and it's the chief way for my family to express their love for one another. Recollections of little me stalking around the kitchen, waiting for an early taste from the bubbling cauldrons before everyone else, still permeate my memory. Today I continue this tradition by cooking for the ones that I love.

My cooking style is rather eclectic. I'm a self taught cook, learning from the FoodNetwork and gathering experience from my own culinary triumphs and mistakes. I'm not a big fan of measuring, for following recipes, for that matter. It took me a while to gather the discipline to become a better baker. I specialize in homey, comfort foods, be it Italian, traditional american or Latin food. I gravitate toward less rigid cuisines that allow me the freedom to put in my own personal touches by adding a few Asian ingredients to western dishes to reflect my heritage.

I would like to dedicate this blog to my grandfather, who passed away recently, and my wonderful boyfriend Orin. Without them, this blog would not be possible.
